Digital Retinal Imaging

Examination and recording your eye health

DIGITAL RETINAL IMAGING

DIGITAL RETINAL IMAGING

With our retinal imaging camera it allows us to examine and record your eye health in greater detail than before. It enables us to photograph the back of your eye to asses the retina, blood vessels and optic nerve. For most patients, imaging is very simple and only involves a camera flash. Some patients with very small pupils may require a mild drop to enlarge the pupil sufficiently for imaging. A digital image is easily taken of your eyes and uploaded to our computer to record instantly, we will also give you a copy to take home.

Patients with a family history of glaucoma, diabetes or macular degeneration will benefit from our ability to record and compare the condition of their eyes over several years.

We can also use the camera to document other eye conditions listed below

Digital Retinal Imaging is recommended for patients with:

  • diabetes
  • macular degeneration
  • glaucoma
