How we can help
Our team can assess the visual skills your child uses during reading, writing, play and classroom activities.
Depending on your child’s needs, we may look at eye movements, focusing, eye teaming, visual attention, visual memory, spatial awareness and visual-motor coordination.
We take time to understand concerns raised by parents, teachers and other health professionals. Where appropriate, we can recommend glasses, practical strategies, further assessment or coordinated care with professionals such as occupational therapists, paediatricians or educational specialists.
Our goal is not to place a label on your child. It is to identify whether vision may be adding an unnecessary hurdle and explain the findings in clear, useful language.
Tips for your visit
Bring your child’s current glasses, previous eye reports and any relevant information from their teacher, occupational therapist or other health professionals.
It can be helpful to bring examples of schoolwork, handwriting or reading material that show where your child is having difficulty.
Make a note of patterns you have noticed, such as avoiding reading, losing their place, copying errors, poor concentration during close work or becoming unusually tired after homework.
Let your child know that the appointment is not a school test and there are no wrong answers. Booking at a time when they are usually rested and comfortable can also help us see their visual skills at their best.
