How we can help
Our team can carry out a detailed assessment of the visual skills used for reading, learning and coordinated movement.
Depending on your needs, we may look at focusing, eye teaming, tracking, depth perception, colour vision, screening for visual information processing difficulties.
We also take the time to understand concerns raised by parents, teachers or other health professionals. Where appropriate, recommendations may include glasses with therapeutic or functional lenses, practical strategies, further assessment or vision therapy.
Our goal is not to explain every learning or concentration difficulty through vision. It is to identify whether vision may be adding an unnecessary hurdle and provide clear, realistic guidance.
Tips for your visit
Bring current glasses, previous eye reports and any relevant information from teachers, occupational therapists or other health professionals.
For children, examples of schoolwork, handwriting or reading material can help show where difficulties are occurring.
Make a note of patterns such as headaches, avoiding reading, losing place on a page, poor concentration during close work, eye rubbing or discomfort after screen use.
Let your child know the appointment is not a school test and there are no wrong answers. Booking at a time when they are usually rested can also help us see their visual skills at their best, ie morning appointments are best.
