How we can help
For some people, reading or looking at screens can be physically uncomfortable. You might find that words seem to blur or move on the page, the bright white background feels glaring, or you experience visual fatigue and headaches after a short time. While these symptoms should always be checked during a comprehensive eye examination first, they can sometimes be linked to a condition known as visual stress.
Here at Mundaring Spectacle Maker, we take the time to understand exactly how you see the world. If we suspect that visual stress is contributing to your discomfort, we can use our Cerium® Intuitive Colorimeter to explore whether a precision tint could make a difference. We sit down with you in our welcoming practice and take you through the colour spectrum, paying close attention to how your eyes respond to different shades and intensities.
If we find a tint that brings you relief and makes reading clearer and more comfortable, we can then have your custom lenses individually manufactured and spectrally checked by Cerium’s specialist laboratory. We are passionate about helping our local community enjoy comfortable, effortless vision, whether that means getting lost in a good book again or working at a screen without the strain.
Tips for your visit
To help you get the most out of your colorimetry assessment, we recommend a little bit of preparation:
- Bring your current eyewear: If you already wear glasses or contact lenses, please bring them along so we can take them into account during your assessment.
- Bring a sample of what you find difficult: Whether it’s a specific book, a textbook you are studying from, or a typical document you read at work, bringing it with you can help us test the tints on the exact materials that cause you trouble.
- Have an up-to-date eye test: Colorimetry is most effective when we know your general eye health and prescription are up to date. If you haven’t had an eye examination recently, let us know so we can arrange one beforehand.
- Come when you’re feeling typical: If your symptoms tend to be worse at a certain time of day (like after school or work), try to schedule your appointment for a similar time so we can see the issue as it naturally occurs.
